National Newspaper Award for Long Feature

This year I was nominated for a National Newspaper Award for Long Feature for my article “My Sexual Education,” published in The Globe and Mail on May 2, 2015. Just over a year later, on May 27, 2016, I was honoured with the award at the ceremony in Edmonton, AB.

When he was 11, we had a big talk about masturbation and then afterwards my husband came up to me in the kitchen, and he said, “Well, we weren’t too late.”
And I said, “Oh! Well, how do you know?”
“Well, because he only had one question and it was: ‘Why do people do it?'”
